on

If you’ve recently started vaping, you’re probably overwhelmed by the different techniques, flavors, and benefits. Admittedly, there's a lot of information around the subject, but cleaning your vape should be part of the drill. Because how else will you keep your vape in prime condition?

Lucky for you, cleaning a vape is a relatively straightforward task that doesn't take much time. It’s as simple as deciding if you would like to perform a regular or deep cleaning on it. Then it’s just about making sure you use the correct cleaning material and technique for the head, coils, and tank.

Let’s explain why it's important to clean your vape tank, then walk you through the cleaning process.

Is It Necessary To Clean Your Vape Tank?

Cleaning your vape tank is necessary because, with time, e-liquid residue builds up in the tank and coils. When this happens, the internal components of your vape get clogged and stop functioning properly.

Airflow through the vape tank is significantly disrupted, thereby restricting the amount of vapor your device produces. As a result, you won't get the benefits from your vape.

Apart from substandard performance, you'll have to deal with a distorted flavor. As mentioned previously, the e-liquid build-up coats the inside of the tank. So each time you refill your tank with a new e-liquid, the old juice is reheated and distorts the new flavor. Depending on the thickness of the coating, the old juice can even completely overwhelm the new e-liquid flavor.

Vape Tank Cleaning Basics

To clean your vape, start by detaching the mouthpiece and coils from the vape tank. Since coils are particularly delicate, a simple wipe down cleaning should do the trick if they aren’t too dirty.

As for the vape tank, start by removing any liquid. Then hold both the mouthpiece and vape tank under warm running water for approximately a minute. Doing this will remove any remnants of e-liquid.

Once you’ve thoroughly rinsed the tank and head, grab a clean cloth and dry them. Leave both the mouthpiece and tank out for about ten minutes to dry completely. If all the water hasn't evaporated from the tank, you can use a cotton ball to dry up any remaining moisture.

Once all the pieces are dry, you can assemble the vape. It’s recommended to do this process at least once a week.

Deep Cleaning Your Vape

The process mentioned above is for when your vape is moderately dirty. However, a light cleaning won’t cut it if you’ve neglected cleaning your vape for too long. In such circumstances, you will need to do a deep clean. To deep clean a vape tank, start by detaching the pieces and emptying the vape tank.

But rather than merely rinsing the pieces under running water, you’ll need to soak the coils overnight in a bowl of warm water and vinegar. As for the tank and head, you only need to soak them in water for a couple of minutes. If necessary, you can add a few drops of dishwashing liquid to eliminate any stubborn residue.

Once you’re done soaking the pieces, rinse them under warm running water to remove the dishwashing liquid or alcohol. Dry them thoroughly, assemble your vape, and it's as good as new!

Conclusion

Cleaning your vape tank shouldn’t be taken lightly because it can significantly compromise the performance of your device. Apart from affecting performance, residue build-up can alter the taste of your e-juice. Read about how much CBD to vape here.

If you don’t have time to clean the tank, you can just wipe the coils clean. However, if the vape is extremely clogged, you’ll have to do a deep clean.

Whichever method you use, it’s important to dry your vape tanks thoroughly before reassembling. This will prevent your device from aging prematurely. Learn more about how to clean your bubbler here.
